Ocean documentary. What happens in the sea with fish? Part 4

Human activity is pushing marine life to the brink of collapse. Overfishing, destruction of marine habitats, and climate change has led to the loss of almost half the world's marine mammals, birds, reptiles, and fish within a single generation.

Today's documentary illustrates the tragic end of the fish when it lands in the hand of a hungry man.

These young fishermen spend the entire day at sea with the aim of catching a good amount of fish to satisfy their hunger. And it doesn't matter if the fish is still small. By catching the fish they torture them alive to keep them calm.

Seafood plays an essential role in feeding the world’s growing population. Healthy fish populations lead to healthy oceans and it's our responsibility to be a part of the solution. The resilience of our marine ecosystems and coastal communities depend on sustainable fisheries.

Understanding the life cycles, habits, habitats, and inter-relationships of marine life contributes to our understanding of the planet as a whole. Human influences and reliance on these species, as well as changing environmental conditions, will determine the future health of these marine inhabitants.
